The Subscription/Notification System allows users to receive notices of any changes to a Document Management System or a specific folder within a Document Management System. Figure 1 shows a sample Document Management System with the Subscription/Notification feature. Notice the "Click here for Email Subscription" You click on this link to start the subscription procedure. |

User Preferences can be set by clicking on Change My Info on the left and choosing Subscription/Notification Preferences. (See Figure 2). Choosing specific folders to be subscribed to is demonstrated in Figure 3. |

Figure 2 displays the Subscription Preferences Dialog Box. This us the User Subscription Preferences page for the Subscription/Notification System. Users can set their email preferences such as email type and frequency here. |

Figure 3 displays the Folder Subscription Dialog Box. This is the Folder Subscription page for the Subscription/Notification System. Here a user can choose which folders to be subscribed to for events such as additions to and deletions from a particular folder. This figure demonstrates how to subscribe to one or more folders. |

Figure 4 displays the Document Management System with Email Subscription Icon(s). After subscribing to a folder, an email icon appears next to the folder. This icon will appear only next to folders to which the current user is subscribed. This display is personalized for each user. |

Figure 5 shows a sample email notification which a subscribed user may receive. Two files were deleted and one new file was added to the subscribed folder. According to the preferences, the new file was also attached to the email message. |
