TASK 3: CALS and Technical Data Rights

Final Data Protection Methods Report  (December 2, 1994)

This final report for the Continuous Acquisition and Life-Cycle Support (CALS) program addresses issues of security requirements relevant to CALS, extending and updating preliminary information on data restriction, security standards, and recent and planned developments in military and commercial data restriction methodologies. Included are results of review of additional literature, and the results of interviews with Government and non-Government computer security authorities. Final recommendations are made for both Government and commercial sector security management in light of recent standards in this area accepted by the Government, as well as areas of ongoing computer and data security developments (i.e., life-cycle support of security systems for CALS that will become relevant in the future).
