Enterprise Information Interoperability (EII)

"I would like to welcome you to 'EII Central'. The 'EII Central' website provides a collaborative forum for both Government and Industry to have access to our work products and conduct online discussions on topics related to our work." -- Mike Evanoff, Technical Director for ManTech's Enterprise Integration Center (e-IC).

Enterprise Information Interoperability (EII) represents a breakthrough approach to enabling interoperability within and across large and complex enterprises such as DoD. EII represents both a discipline (known as the Context-based Information Interoperability Methodology or CIIM) and a toolset. The EII approach to achieving semantics-based enterprise information interoperability supplants that of traditional EAI. EII addresses both the physical and, more importantly, the logical aspects of information. Note that the term logical refers to the meaning and context of data and the applications that process / generate the data. The term physical refers to only the physical levels of information and information exchange that include such things as syntax, format, data values, data access, data transport, database bridges, data extraction, etc. The EII discipline and CIIM methodology focus on both the semantics of data and context for the data with a neutral semantic ontology referred to as the Integration Schema (also known as the Abstract Conceptual Model or ACM). The CIIM represents the first known attempt at providing a standards-based, industry best practice/methodology for achieving interoperability of enterprise information systems. The goal of the CIIM is to preserve and expose the meaning and context of data in a rigorous, formalized, repeatable, and computable manner.

ManTech's e-IC's interoperability team is instrumental in researching, developing, and implementing EII technologies to enable a more streamlined government-wide interoperability infrastructure. Our core team of interoperability professionals possess a wide-breadth of knowledge and experience built upon a philosophy of open systems and standards to ensure the flow of interoperable, secure, and reliable technical and business information within and across DOD's complex enterprise.

Our core team provides both the government and industry with a wide range of technology, business, and related experience in the field of interoperability engineering. Our interoperability team is currently involved in the following activities:

  •  Enterprise Information Interoperability Engineering
  •  Data Analysis, Data Mapping, Semantic Mapping, and Enterprise Application Integration
  •  Collaborative Product Commerce
  •  Collaborative Agents and Agencies
  •  Security and Risk Analysis
  •  Standards Mapping
  •  Semantic Equivalency Assessments

Our team's professional experience and expertise is designed to add value to every stage of your interoperability development and support needs. If your organization is being faced with a requirement to achieve interoperability of your information systems, our team can help.
