What is NATO CALS?

NATO CALS is a co-operative activity, funded by 11 of the 19 NATO Nations, to improve NATO’s ability to exploit information and communications technology, in the acquisition and life cycle support of complex Weapons Systems.
MISSION

NATO CALS has three main components:

The NATO CALS Management Board (NCMB), which meets 3 times per year, to control the work program.
STRAT PLAN
The NATO CALS Office (NCO), with (up to) 11 full time staff, to undertake the agreed tasks.
Business Plan
And the NATO Industrial CALS Group (NICG), who provide industrial advice and assistance.

The work is based on the following principles:

Take a Through Life Approach TLBM
Treat information as an Asset TLIM
Go digital
Use COTS and industry solutions where possible
Use International standards where possible
